Who is assigned the Florida 8-Hour Aggressive Driver Course?
The Aggressive Driver Course is assigned by a Florida judge or court to drivers who have demonstrated aggressive driving behaviour. Common reasons for assignment include: multiple serious traffic violations in a short period, road rage incidents, reckless driving convictions, street racing citations, multiple speeding violations, a pattern of repeated traffic offenses, or a judge’s determination that a driver’s behaviour constitutes aggressive driving. This is a court-ordered program. It is not available for voluntary election.
Can I take this course voluntarily without a court order?
No. The 8-Hour Aggressive Driver Course is a court-ordered program. It is assigned by a judge or court and is not available as a voluntary election. If you received a second ticket within 12 months and want to avoid points, see the 8-Hour Intermediate Driver Improvement (IDI) course instead.
Do I need to confirm anything with my court before enrolling?
Yes. Before enrolling, confirm that the court that issued your order accepts online completion of the 8-Hour Aggressive Driver Course. Not all Florida courts accept online delivery for court-ordered aggressive driving programs. Review your court paperwork and contact the clerk of court or your attorney if you are unsure.
What is the deadline to complete the course?
Your deadline is set by your court and stated in your court order. You must complete the course and provide your certificate of completion to the court by that date. Failure to complete by your court deadline may result in additional penalties. Check your court paperwork for the exact date.
Can CDL holders take this course?
CDL holders should confirm directly with their court and the FLHSMV whether this course satisfies their specific court-ordered requirement. CDL holders are subject to different rules under Florida law for most driver improvement programs.
