How do I get my Defensive Driving proof of completion?

You can download your proof of completion for the Delaware 3-Hour Refresher Insurance Discount Course within 30 minutes of completing the course.

Your proof of Completion will be available to print from your account within a few minutes. After you complete a short survey, you should be taken there automatically. Otherwise, simply log back in to your account and you will see the link to print your certificate.

To receive your insurance reduction, make a copy of your certificate of completion and give the copy to your insurance agent/company. The discount will then be applied for 3 years. Save your original copy for future reference.

Point Credit & DMV Benefits

What benefit does the Delaware approved defensive driving course provide besides insurance discount?

The Delaware approved defensive driving course grants a three-point credit on your driving record if you have at least 8 points. This credit is used by the DMV for calculating driver penalties. This credit can only be applied to future violations and does not reduce existing points on the driving record.

When is the 3-point credit applied?

The 3 point credit to your Delaware DMV driving record should be applied within 2 weeks following your course completion date. If you live in Delaware but your driver’s license is from a state other than Delaware, you can still receive the insurance discount but you will not receive the 3 point credit.
