Yes, our Traffic Safety Program is approved by the Sacramento County court for specific cases. The court will order you to take either the Aware Driver™ 2.0 Program OR the Mature Driver Program, and you can find this information on the Agreement to Attend Safety Program you were provided at your hearing.
You will need permission from the court to enroll in this program; the court will order you to take either the Aware Driver™ 2.0 or Mature Driver Program. Once you have the document from the Sacramento Superior Court, you will be able to enroll in the program using your Case Number and Citation Number.
You get 90 days from the date of the court order to enroll in and complete the course. The specific date of this deadline is noted in the Agreement to Attend Program document you received from the court. The program takes at least 6 hours to complete, so as long as you get started before 6 p.m. on the date of the deadline, you'll be able to complete the program in time. Once you complete it, we will report your completion to the court for you.
We take care of everything once you complete the course. We will report your completion to the Sacramento Superior Court, and you can download a copy of the completion certificate for your records (and submit it to your insurance company to qualify for an insurance discount if you’re over 55).
California state requires insurance companies to give eligible drivers age 55 and above an insurance discount once they complete a MATURE DRIVER PROGRAM, so you may be eligible to receive an auto insurance discount when you complete our Mature Driver course. However, this does not apply if the court ordered you to take the Aware Driver™ 2.0 course.
You can contact your auto insurance agent to discuss your eligibility and further details of the discount.
