ANSWER

What courses are approved?

Our traffic school and defensive driving courses have undergone numerous traffic safety studies and time after time have proven to be effective in reducing future traffic collisions and traffic tickets. Our traffic school courses are approved by a number of jurisdictions across the country, including California Superior Courts, California DMV, Florida DMV, New York DMV, New Jersey DMV, Virginia DMV and many others. Depending on your jurisdiction our courses are approved and can be taken for meeting your Traffic Violator School requirements, Ticket Dismissal, Point and Insurance Reduction and any Defensive Driving or Driver Improvement Clinic referral.

GENERAL INFORMATION

I'm not sure if I am eligible for traffic school. How do I find out?

States have different regulatory agencies who approve the course. These regulatory agencies have different rules on how often you can take driving education courses and the purpose of the courses can vary from state to state or court to court (insurance reduction, point reduction, etc.). When you register for this course, this site will tell you whether the course is approved in your state or court. However, you should ALWAYS verify with your state or court before completing a defensive driving course. Just be sure to take care of it BEFORE your assigned court date or due date.

How long will it take me to complete this course?

Though course lengths vary from state to state, typical courses are usually 4-6 hours in length. You can start and stop the course as often as you would like to.

How Many Hours Of Traffic School Do I Need To Take?

Most students just need to take the 8 hour class unless you were specifically directed to take more. Some students are Court ordered to take 12 or 16 hours of traffic school. Our home study course, if approved by your court, meets the 400 minute instruction criteria. A few of the Courts in CA have also approved our Level II course. If you are not sure which course to take, please check with the Court.

Is Your School Certified By The DMV?

We sure are certified! Our classroom course is certified by the CA DMV – our license number is 1515.In CA, home study courses are certified on a Court by Court basis. Our web site was specifically designed to ask you which Court you got your ticket from and then offer you only the course formats approved by that Court. As always though if you are unsure, you should check with the Court to make sure they will accept our certificate.

I Got A Ticket And Would Like To Clear The Points Off My License But I Have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

Vehicle Code Section 42005 prohibits drivers with class A, class B or commercial class C drivers license from attending traffic violator school for the purpose of dismissing and suppressing traffic violations from a driving record. This prohibition applies to any violation issued on September 20, 2005 or later and committed with any class of motor vehicle. Drivers that fall within this prohibition may attend traffic violator school to dismiss a violation however, the violation and dismissal will remain on the record and not be suppressed. Did you just read that and think "huh"? Yeah, it is confusing. The CA CDL law simply says that if you are a professional driver, you cannot attend traffic school and expect that your point will not appear on your record at the DMV. The law was designed to keep truckers and other commercial drivers from clearing their records. 99% of our callers are "normal" drivers, who hold a "normal" driver's license, called a "Class C" license. The law does not apply to normal drivers, known as "class C" drivers. You should look at your California Driver's license to see what class you are if confused. If you have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) you can attend traffic school; but the points will still appear on your records. Sometimes your boss or supervisor might require that you attend school because of a citation.

How Much Does Your Class Cost?

Our online text Internet course is only $24.95 and unlike other schools that actually includes your certificate of completion (Hey, what good is a car if they don't give you the keys right?). Our classroom course starts at $35, but the final cost depends how many hours you need. Our DVD course starts at $29.95 depending upon the court you received your violation in.

How do you select the questions that I will be asked on a quiz?

Quiz questions are pulled randomly from a pool of questions developed for your specific course. Two people may get different questions because they are randomly selected. It's the luck of the draw!

How long is the final exam?

The length of the final exam may vary and is determined by the state and county that issued your violation. The typical final is 25 questions, but could be longer depending on your state's requirements.

What will happen if I fail the final exam?

Depending on your state or court's regulations, you may have the opportunity to retake the final exam if you fail. The regulatory agency in your state mandates how many attempts you will have to take the final exam.

What should I do if I think I have spotted an error in the material?

Please feel free to visit our "Contact Us" page and e-mail your comments to customer service for review and verification. We appreciate your input!

Are the statistics you quote outdated?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) generally release traffic statistics 1-2 years after they are collected. We update the course material regularly to reflect the latest available statistics, which are not always from the year immediately prior.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Is your website secure?

Yes. An encrypted SSL connection requires all information sent between a client and a server to be encrypted by the sending software and decrypted by the receiving software, thus providing a high degree of confidentiality. Confidentiality is important for both parties to any private transaction. In addition, all data sent over an encrypted SSL connection is protected with a mechanism for detecting tampering--that is, for automatically determining whether the data has been altered in transit.

The pages on your site are not loading. What should I do?

If the pages for our site are not loading completely, you may want to disconnect your internet connection and log back in. This type of problem is typically caused by your Internet Service Provider or ISP and web traffic. If you continue to experience problems, we recommend disconnecting and returning at a later time to complete the course when internet traffic is not as heavy. If you are still having problems, you may call customer support at 800-660-8908.

Do I need any special software to take this course?

You do not need any special software to use our course. All you need is a web browser and a connection to the internet. We support Internet Explorer 4.0 and higher, Netscape Navigator 6.0, AOL 4.0 and higher, and most other browsers. There is no software to download and nothing saved to your hard drive.

Do I need to save my work?

Your registration and payment information are automatically saved. You must finish each chapter quiz completely in order to receive credit for that chapter. Simply log in using your driver's license and password and we automatically keep track of the course work completed, so the next time you log in, you can pick up where you left off.

I forgot my password. How can I find out what it is?

If you provided a valid email address upon registering for the course, your login and password was emailed to you. If you do not have access to email, or did not provide an email address at registration, please contact our Customer Service at 800-660-8908.

CERTIFICATE DELIVERY

What certificate delivery options do I have?

We offer various delivery options. Your course tuition includes regular mailing of your certificate. For your convenience, we also offer premium delivery services for an additional cost. Overnight delivery costs an additional $35.00 and will be delivered the next business day. Two-day express delivery costs $20.00 and will be delivered the second business day before 5 PM. If you live in a rural area, delivery delays may occur. You may also choose priority mail for an additional $6.00.

How long does it take for my certificate to be delivered?

Our certificates are processed Monday-Friday at 3 PM Eastern Standard Time. Users completing after 3 PM will be processed the following business day. We ask you to allow 3-5 business days for delivery. Premium delivery services are available for an additional fee.

My certificate is due today. Can I still take your course?

Time allowed for completion of courses and deadlines for submitting certificates of completion vary from court to court. We urge you to contact your court for this information to avoid taking this course and not receiving credit from the court.

Do you send my certificate directly to the court?

Each state or court has specific requirements for the processing of certificates. In most cases, we send the certificate directly to the student.

I Got My Certificate – Now What?

With a few exceptions it is usually your responsibility to turn a copy of the certificate into the Court. If you took any one of our classroom courses, then you must turn in a copy of your certificate yourself. The same applies if you took our home study course in any other County except LA. If you are an LA County home study student then we fax a copy of your certificate directly to the Court on your behalf. We do recommend that you follow-up with the court because as with any fax, we know we sent it, but we can't tell you what happened on the other end. You should check to make sure your records are updated to reflect that you completed traffic school.

I Need A Copy Of My Certificate (Classroom Course).

We can issue a new certificate if your original was lost or stolen. This new certificate is a replacement of your old one. All the information on the new certificate MUST match the original information on the original certificate. There is a $4.50 charge to issue a new certificate. To order a new certificate please call us at: 800.257.3921 Your original certificate will be reported to the DMV as lost/stolen and will be voided. So if you should find it somewhere down the line, then be sure to destroy it as it is no longer valid. The process is a lot like when you stop payment on a check. The original is void, and the new one replaces the old one.

I Need A Copy Of My Certificate (Home Study Course)

If you have lost your certificate or in contains incorrect information, you may contact a customer support representative at 1-800-660-8908 to request a certificate reprint.

I Took Your Home Study Course, but I Have Not Received My Certificate Yet, What Is The Holdup?

Two key things need to happen before we can issue a certificate of completion. Did you return the course/exam to us? And if so, did you pass? If you answered Yes to both of those questions then your certificate is probably in the mail. If you opted to have it emailed to you, then you should check your spam filter/folder. The certificate is an attachment and some overzealous spam filters like to weed out our very important email to you. If your certificate was mailed it might just be in transit.

How Does the Internet Course Work?

Once you have enrolled for our Internet course you may start and stop the course as often as you'd like. There are security questions asked during the course to insure that you are reading and paying attention to the material. Each chapter has quiz questions depending upon which court you received your violation in. Once you are finished with all of the chapters you will be able to take the final exam. Some courts require ID validation before completing the final exam. You will be prompted as to what to do to complete your course so all you need to do is follow the directions.

How Does The DVD Course Work?

The DVD course is easy – Just pop the DVD in, grab some popcorn and sit back! We are the only DVD course that's taught by a comedian. You will have fun while learning to be a better driver ...and it's easy! But before you order it please make sure that your Court has approved our home study course. If you are not sure, our web site will guide you through the process. Once you select CA you will be asked which Court referred you. Only those course formats approved by that court are offered to you. The exact configuration of your course depends on which Court referred you. In some cases you will have 2 courses (Level II); in some cases you will have both a quiz and an exam. Regardless, as you watch the DVD (s) the instructor will give you the answers to validation questions that you must mark on an answer sheet as you go along (this is how the Court is assured you watched the whole thing). Afterwards there will be a final exam with multiple choice and true or false questions. Once you have completed the course and filled out the final exam/validation form you simply mail it all back to us. We process your completion approximately 1 business day after receiving your package.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

What is the course completion policy?

You must complete all phases of the approved curriculum in order to receive a certificate of completion. Any time missed must be made up. What is the course cancellation/refund policy?

All refunds will be mailed out or credited back within 10 days following receipt of a permissible request for cancellation, prior to issue of completion certification.

What is the testing and grading policy?

The quizzes do not affect your final exam score but will provide you with and excellent opportunity to master the course material. You also must take and pass a final exam upon completion of the course.
