The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning drivers in Arizona to expect traffic delays due to construction on Interstate 17 near Cordes Lakes. The entire road way including Cordes Junction is under construction with a variety of repairs and renovations to the roadway taking place.
Workers will be present in and around the road way while drivers are trying to get where they are going. Traffic citation fines in these areas will be raised and drivers are expected to use caution.
…intermittent closures of I-17 at Big Bug Creek near Cordes Junction Monday night between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. Road closures could take up to 30 minutes each in order to create a safe work and driving zone.
Crews will also be cleaning up the roadway and placing concrete girders on the new Arcosanti bridge on I-17 throughout the week causing more road closures.
Between Monday and Thursday, August 10, only one lane will be open in both directions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
On Tuesday, southbound drivers will be shifted to on- and off-ramps near the Arcosanti bridge.
Northbound drivers will be shifted to the on- and off-ramps on Wednesday between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
